Nikon D3X 24.5MP FX CMOS Digital SLR with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only)
"Nikon D3X 24.5MP FX CMOS Digital SLR with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only)"

The Nikon D3X is a high res model from the Nikon D3. It’s an expert grade DIGITAL SLR designed with a large 24.5 mega pixel sensor. Along with it is large pixel count, the Nikon D3X includes many functions for example a 51 point AF system, Active D-Lighting, EXPEED image processor chip, and automated masking for DX lens.

Description : Nikon D3x Best Buy

“ Like the D3 before it, the Nikon D3x is a very serious piece of kit. Both cameras exude physical confidence with tank-like build quality and superb ergonomics. The viewfinder delivers a huge view with 100% coverage and a wealth of information, while the VGA screen ensures images look their best whether in playback or Live View. The dual Compact Flash slots allow invaluable backup configurations that make you wonder why such features are reserved for top-end models only. Then when you fire-off a burst of frames, even with the ‘slower’ D3x, it’s hard not to be impressed by the sheer amount of data being processed.

So it’s no surprise to find the Nikon D3x, like the D3 before it, is a very successful and satisfying tool for the professional, but what about the image quality? When we went into this test we of course expected excellent results from the flagship Nikon DSLR, but we were surprised not just by its ultimate resolving power, but also the comparative quality of its main rival – in terms of images anyway... ”

Nikon D3s Overviews

You know there was already something excellent about a camera when it gets only a minor upgrade after almost two years of service, something Nikon confirms with its introduction of the Nikon D3S professional digital SLR. You might disagree on whether the upgrade is major or minor, but some will cling to the resolution to say that there's little new about the Nikon D3S: "It's still 12.1 megapixels."

But a camera is more than resolution. Nikon more than any other camera company has taught us that a digital camera can perform better in low light than we've ever allowed ourselves to expect -- seeing more like our eyes see, so that we can get better pictures without flash. They taught us this with the Nikon D3, whose expanded ISO setting was an astonishing 25,600. Journalists rely on the D3's high ISO settings, making images that would have been impossible just a few years ago.

The Nikon D3S, however, is more sensitive. Its base ISO range is 200 to 12,800. And its expanded ISO settings go up to 102,400. The possibilities just multiplied.

In addition to greater sensitivity, the Nikon D3S offers the new essential feature of video capture. As on other Nikons, D-Movie captures 1,280 x 720 progressive scan at 24 frames per second. Files are saved in Motion JPEG AVI format, which allows easy on-camera editing, as well as extracting a still image from the video stream, all without affecting the original file. A monaural microphone is built into the front of the Nikon D3S, and a stereo mic input allows attachment of an external microphone. Regular movie shooting allows automatic gain setting between ISO 200 and 12,800, and an optional High-Sensitivity Movie Mode opens up ISO 6,400 to 102,400 for recording movies in very low light conditions.

"LG 42LK450 42-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV"

LG 42LK450

A simple LG TV at a good price

The new LG 42LK450 is a simple little TV with a good price. Sure, it doesn’t have that many features when compared to other models, but that’s not really a problem if all you want is a device that works well and suits every room you put it in. And now for our test and review.

Good features

This LCD TV comes with specifications such as: 42” screen size, 1920 x 1080p resolution, 40.1” x 24.8” x 3.0” (without stand) / 40.1” x 27.5” x 10.4” (with stand), 13kg (without stand) / 15 kg (with stand), 60Hz frame rate, XD Engine, 16:9 aspect ratio, 10W + 10W 1-way dual speakers, Dolby Digital Decoder, Infinite Surround, Clear Voice II, auto volume leveler, 1080p source input (HDMI / Component / RGB), 3 HDMI, 1 USB 2.0, 1 optical audio out, 2 AV in, 2 component in, 1 PC in (D-Sub 15 pin), 1 headphone out, 1RS-232C, 1 RF, AV input navigation, VESA compatible (200mm x 200mm) and 2 AAA batteries required.

The design of the TV is simple

LG 42LK450 offers the following features: Intelligent Sensor, Picture Wizard II, Smart Energy Saving (Energy Star Qualified), bass, treble, balance, auto volume leveler, sound modes (5: Standard, Music, Cinema, Game, Sports), Picture modes (8: Intelligent Sensor, Vivid, Standard, Cinema, Sport, Game, isf Expert 1 and isf Expert 2), auto tuning, channel add, favorite channel, clock, timer, sleep timer, auto off, child lock, closed caption, Simplink, a remote control and a manual.
The design is simple: there’s a black framing bezel made of plastic and one power button which is actually a touch-sensitive area very easy to turn on. The LG 42LK450 model is really slim, so the touch-sensitive power option is a good idea if you want to keep the device steady on its feet. The screen is antiglare, a fact that is really nice if you sit in a brightly lit room. The viewing angle encounters the same problem as with other LG TVs: contrast starts to degrade at around 30 degrees off center.

The test and review conclusions

And here is where our test and review ends. The new LG 42LK450 is a great option for those of you who prefer non-assuming LCD TVs at good prices. This model offers good quality entertainment and is easy to use.

Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002

Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002

"Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 Slim and Compact Desktop"

User Reviews :

I seen reviewers here lament these machines don't have an eSATA port, BUT these Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 DO have an eSATA port, though Acer certainly seems to keep it a secret There's a small plastic cover, about the size of your thumbnail, on the side of the Revo underneath the audio jacks and "HDMI label. Pop that off with the sharp point of a kitchen paring knife, and Walla! there it is. It even has the word 'SATA' molded into the plastic beside it, though this is not un-covered until the 'plastic thumbnail' is removed. It was only sheer curiosity that made me see if that 'thumbnail' size piece would pop off one morning. If someone trys out the port, post a comment here, so we all know if/how it works out. Thanks.
---Reviews By Thomas Ramey---

The Acer AspireRevo AR3700-U3002 was as described and set up quickly. The triangular stand comes off too easily - fixed that minor problem by adding a set screw. Comes with 2*1gb memory cards. I wanted to upgrade two 2*2gb cards which means discarding the unused default memory cards that come with the machine. The upgrade memory cards that I ordered with the PC were the wrong size - my fault for not checking the card style carefully enough before ordering; but some sites show compatible accessories with the main product and prevent this sort of mistake. I am returning the wrongly ordered memory. I have never had a problem with previous returns to Amazon; so I assume it will be fine this time as well. Followed some useful hints from other reviewers re cleaning up bloatware that is pre-installed on the Revo (and most other PCs).

Toshiba Satellite L735-S3375

Toshiba Satellite L735-S3375 13.3-Inch Laptop

"Toshiba Satellite L735-S3375 13.3-Inch Laptop"

I'm very pleased with this Toshiba Satellite L735-S3375. Toshiba seems to be putting out quality laptops at present. I have been very disappointed with Dells over the last 5 years or so, I think Dell quality has hit rock bottom. They were pretty good when they came out, now they are trying to capitalize on name brand. Just read the reviews and you can get a clear picture. Those who buy Sony all say something like "OMG dude! Pink laptop, how coolzors is dat!" Reviews for Toshibas are all about best performance against various objective benchmarks and intelligent technical discussion of what is under the hood.
I've had Toshiba Satellite L735-S3375 for about 2 months now with no problems. It performs very well right out of the box. Removing some bloatware was very easy (I'm not sure if it made much difference as I did it right away). The keyboard is very good for a laptop of this size. I have no idea what customer service is like as I have had no reason to find out yet. It is light enough to take anywhere, yet powerful enough to crank out 10k iterations of an MCMC chain faster than your grandma can knit one row. It seems pretty sturdy (yes, klutz that I am, I've already dropped it, flushed it down the toilet, set it on fire, backed my car over it ... well ok, maybe nothing so bad, but it has had some relatively rough treatment).
Reliability and performance are what matters for me, looking cool is irrelevant but it actually does that too. Highly recommended.

LG Infinia 55LW5600

LG Infinia 55LW5600 55-Inch Cinema 3D 1080p 120 Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV and Four Pairs of 3D Glasses

Sporting a slim profile in the glossy black build, the LG Infinia 55LW5600 certainly looks staid compared to the eye-catching beauty of its cousins in the LX9500 series. The HDTV is perched atop a low-rise swivel stand with shiny rectangular base with only the transparent edging on the 1.5-inch bezels and the unilluminated LG logo at the bottom frame as highlights – a minimalist look with understated chic that should perfectly suit modern homes.

Like other 2011 LG releases, two remotes are shipped with the LG Infinia 55LW5600: the standard remote with well-placed, illuminated keys and the Wii-like motion controller. The wand-like controller has been upgraded to seamlessly access and control more menu items and apps (except Netflix), although there is still room for improvement to make motion control much more efficient. Both remotes work well with the fresh LG menu designed for Smart TV capable HDTVs that features a webpage-like interface.

Screen/Picture Clarity

The LG Infinia 55LW560 renders black levels that are relatively much darker than standard LCDs, although a shade brighter compared to plasmas. The deep blacks and excellent near black areas, fairly accurate colors, and excellent hue saturation combine perfectly to produce crisp and vivid images that are rendered uniformly across the screen. There are some blooming effects and artifacts noted especially on bright objects with dark backgrounds, and picture clarity suffers quickly on off angle viewing, but the unit’s ability to filter out external reflections quite well is certainly a plus point.

This Infinia uses passive technology for 3D, which makes the picture quality a tad inferior to active 3D in side by side comparisons. But the pictures in this 3DTV are nonetheless perky and bright, and donning less-intrusive and more comfortable eyewear (particularly for extended viewing) would surely offset for the subpar images. Moreover, it is the 2D that is the LG Infinia 55LW5600’s strongest point: it handles full 1080p/24 materials excellently with minimal artifacts.

The features for this 3DTVs and the step-up and higher priced LW6500 are much the same, including LG’s Smart TV portal that offers most of the big-name streaming content providers with the notable exception of Pandora – in a misnamed Premium suite which require no additional fees beyond the subscription payments. The unit also has a browser that works quite well with social networking sites, although it has no Flash for viewing videos. ( Read more... )
